‘I Fucked It Up’ is about destroying things; in a playful, hopeful way. So the anticipation clip would relate to that in terms of, waiting for things to change. We're all waiting. I think IFIU is sort of about creative destruction, needing a revolution or a change in paradigm at the current moment. The lyrics focus in on tiny details and intimacy, against large scale imagery. To me, I think IFIU is about these dichotomies, intimacy/community, technology/nature (even though they are inseparable), nostalgia/destruction (or creation/destruction, but you have to destroy the dominant stories to make way for new ones).
lyrics
Erase this game and pray for new grains raining
Shadows play wild autumn stays in my mind
Frozen air lifts your cold-touching skin to new heights
Diamond heat desert memory spins when we're breathing
You sing like this
I fucked it up
I fucked it up
Really wanna know what I'm seeing
In my heart I cry, let go of my heart
When you go on the TV
Mmm you fucked it up
To change it up
I know you know how to feel me
My little dancer sees my soul, when we turn
We can go where you wanna go
Splinter chains inside my wood grain changing
Light rays play while winter stays in my mind
Frozen air takes the gold in your hair to new heights
Diving in there's a way to swim when we're breathing
Fighting with the bends when there's diamonds in your blood don't worry bout it
I'll let you know
I wanted to play the fool
And the symbol was simple:
You will be the one now,
Gushing lightness
I fucked it up
I fucked it up
Really wanna know what I'm seeing
In my heart I laugh, let go of my heart
When you go on the TV
mm You fucked it up
To change it up
I know you know how to feel me
My little dancer sees my soul, when we turn
We can go
You fucked it up
I fucked it up
You fucked it up
you really wanna know what I'm seeing
In my heart I laugh, let go of my heart
let me know when you need me
you fucked it up
To change it up
I know you know how to feel me
My little dancer sees my soul, when we turn
We can go where you wanna go
